Therapy at Heartscape Psychology
Our Approach
You do not need to be diagnosed with a mental illness to have psychotherapy. It can help you during a crisis and with your emotional or mental health (including everything from anxiety to grief, relationships to self-esteem issues). Other benefits to engaging in therapy are gaining further insights into ourselves, developing coping skills, and making positive changes to problematic behaviours. In the case that you have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist or medical doctor, our psychologists are also well-equipped and experienced in treating your presenting issues.
Our therapy approach is not limited to just one method or theory- we tailor and provide bespoke treatment plans based on your needs and draw from various theoretical models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Solutions Focused Brief Therapy.
The period of therapy is dependent on the therapy goal(s) and the variety of issues that you would like to work on. Therapy can last from a few sessions to much longer. Some find therapy to be extremely beneficial and decide to make it a long-term personal mental health investment. The frequency of therapy typically begins with weekly while it potentially stretches to fortnightly or longer intervals upon therapy progress and subsequent discussions.
Confidentiality is one of the most crucial aspects in therapy, as effective therapy requires a high degree of trust and emotional safety. With few exceptions, the therapy discussions between you and your psychologist will not be shared with anyone without your consent. Any legally and ethically mandated disclosures will be discussed with you in advance.
Therapy at Heartscape Psychology is offered both in-person and online.
Your psychologist will discuss with your expectations of therapy with you in your first session.
Group Psychotherapy
Group psychotherapy offers a safe place to normalize, receive support and learn more about ourselves and others. The group is a microcosm of the macro world in which we live in. Apart from being more cost efficient, group psychotherapy treatment outcomes are scientifically investigated to be equivalent to individual therapy.

As a group psychotherapy enthusiast and specialist, Shi Min (our founder) established time-limited process group services in local hospitals, organized experiential learning groups, and led support groups for local clinicians.
